Action Center    WHCoA 2005

The White House Conference on Aging (WHCoA) occurs once every ten years, presenting a rare opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of incorporating intergenerational strategies in the future of aging policy.  The 2005 WHCoA was the fifth conference held, and included "Support Older Adult Caregivers Raising Their Relatives' Children" among the final 50 resolutions.

Past White House Conferences on Aging have contributed to the establishment of many key aging programs such as Medicare and Medicaid, the Older Americans Act, and Social Security reforms. The last conference in 1995 launched the beginning of a national level discussion of the need to support grandparent and other relative headed families. Take action to assure that relative headed families get the support and attention they deserve in the 2005 White House Conference on Aging.
